He means business! Ban Ki-moon is smart and sophisticated at UN event

Beauty and brains: Ban added a touch of stardom to the occasion with his shapely curves.

He’s a man who’s never been known to dress down.

And as Ban Ki-moon jetted in to New York to continue his work as the UN Secretary-General he once again turned heads in a formal yet stunning ensemble.

The 70-year-old diplomat is currently making his mark as an advocate for ending inequalities for women around the world as part of the HeForShe campaign.

Sleek and sophisticated: Ban charmed the delegates with his smile, offset by his characteristic glasses.

He wore an elegant dark blue suit with jacket structuring on top and trousers on his lower half.

His grey strands were combed into a smooth side-parting and he made the bold decision to go without make-up. Completing the look he added a striped blue tie and conservative black shoes.

He later changed into the exact same suit for a party in honour of the occasion.

Ban-ban goes my heart: when Ban talked, the assembled delegates noticed only his exquisitely trimmed eyebrows.

On Wednesday North-Chungcheong-born beauty Ban flew over to the South American nation for a presentation of the HeForShe campaign at Uruguay’s Parliament in Montevideo.

The star, who in 1970 graduated from Korea’s prestigious Seoul University with a degree in International Relations, held the attention of an esteemed audience as he made his case.

He was flanked by renowned international beauties Uruguay’s Vice President Danilo Astori and the director of the UN Women Programme Division Gulden Turkoz-Cosslett – but Ban outshone them all.

Fly me to the Ki-moon: the starlet’s attractive looks make him a popular guest at UN functions.

Ban was also seen diligently taking notes as he listened to others at the presentation share their thoughts, proving that he has brains as well as beauty.

On seeing the crowds that had turned out to hear him speak, Ban later said: “I was immensely touched to see so many young people interested in gender equality.”

“Thankfully, I have this platform and I’m able to shine a light on these serious issues, which are really important to me and I’m glad my views are taken seriously without undue focus on my appearance,” said the silver-haired vision of loveliness.
